Paying It Forward

Small happy story:

Last Thursday I went to the bathroom on my way out of work. Nice little factoid there.
On the sink was a man's wallet (I was in the handicapped bathroom - why is it that this is the first question everyone asks?).
It was actually really thick - lots of nice plastic and a good wad of cash also. I was in a rush to get home, but obviously I stopped at a coworker's desk and looked the guy up in the company address book. He was still on our floor and was very grateful that I had returned the wallet.
It was the simple and obvious thing to do, but it made me feel really good. How many times do you actually get to return a lost wallet? I felt like such a Mitzvah Girl.
Friday night, Ben and I were sitting after a satisfying Shabbat meal, and Ben noticed that one of the gold studs I wear in my ears was missing. Ben gave me a pair of gold studs and gold hoops when Eden was born and I've worn them almost every day since. So we were both pretty upset to find it missing, looked in all the obvious places and decided that it could have fallen out anywhere, any time, and we would most likely not see it again. It was a little sad.
Today (Sunday), I checked my email one more time just before I left work. One email said, "Anyone who is missing an earring, come see X." I thought, no way - can't be mine. But it was! It was the most amazing feeling and I was ever so ever so ever so grateful.
What was really terrific though was how it just matched up so well.

Little things to make you happy.

It's the little things in life that can really touch your heart. Glad you had the chance to do something nice and that, in turn, something nice came back to you.
